ABOUT THE SERIES:
‘Serendipitous’ is a series of framed original fine artworks that tests the theory that a sequence of events may not be individually beneficial, but once combined, the collective whole produces an outcome that is more fortunate for all.
Created as an assemblage of independent vignettes across a large swath of raw canvas, where the periphery of each ‘moment’ was intentionally left to blur beyond its natural borders. Resulting in a new interconnected scene, greater than its individual parts. Michelle then established new compositions, cropping each piece to provide an imperfect window into the wider picture.
By using raw canvas the paint soaks in and desaturates as it dries, creating a soft nostalgic quality to her works. A homage to the beauty found in nature’s patina, reminiscent of leaf impressions after a storm, and pebble imprints by the tides. A celebration of happenstance, this series teases the viewer with notions of more, while simultaneously remaining true to the artist’s practice of less.
