Sarah is interested in the discipline of simplicity. Over the past two years, she has been exploring a more minimal, surreal style as an extension of her other work. Sarah realised, is that it is easier to fill a space than to leave it empty, but both spaces are equally important and must be balanced carefully. By stripping away the unnecessary, presenting a scenario in a simple manner can give the audience space and greater freedom to create their own story.

Wireheads! Sarah’s drawings have evolved from a long history of sketching; she calls it structured improvisation; a combination of uncontrolled and con- trolled chaos with some identifiable characteristics. They represent the energy of thinking and the subconscious mind in movement and in the moment.
Acrylic painting on plywood box frame.
This painting is about being present and feeling fully alive. Sarah has always enjoyed watching the cliff divers. The training and discipline it takes is enormous. The adrenaline rush, excitement, fear and so many more feelings packed into just a few seconds. Having a past as a gymnast and dancer, Sarah feels like she can relate to the divers, there is some similarity.
