Nicola Zimmerman’s work focuses on the endemic fauna and flora of New Zealand, incorporating maps to hint at the location.
Nicola enjoys playing with scale and builds up layers to gradually reveal detail, sometimes a cheeky narrative with native animals and insects can be seen. Her aim is to create an overall effect, then allow further discoveries upon closer inspection.
Nicola formally trained as an architect and now works as an intermediate school teacher and Across School Leader. She has exhibited work throughout the North Island and has previously received the award for the most successful artist at the Royal New Zealand Easter Show.
